back from cancun

It's been two weeks since I got home from Cancun, but the mems (and the tan lines) are still fresh. 

If anything else, this relaxing resort vacation was the perfect chance to catch up on sleep. Early morning flights and packing just hours before take-off rewards itself later when you're beach bound. 

The week was filled with lots of sun, some quality time with a new aquatic friend and endless opportunities to be surrounded by the palms, or enjoy a poolside taco. I booked through The Vacationers by Emma Straub, and checked 'ordering room service' off my bucket list. Did you catch that pun back there?

Ocean air, one-piece bathing suits and hotel robes aside, I'm happy to be back in reality. Adventures are my favorite, and traveling has a way of refreshing your mind - but I was all too ready to get my feet back in America and hit the ground running.

my music friday

It's been a week, that's for sure.

Between work, trips to the lake and seeing friends for summer shenanigans, it's safe to say there has been no time to nap let alone get a good night's sleep.

But there's always time for music. This week I'm giving you a glance into my favorite new music from Oh Wonder's Ultralife to Lana Del Rey's newly dropped Lust for Life. Both albums are alternative with moments of electricity worth noting - a quirky beat, a nostalgic harmony, and a reliable sound. With references to life that are all too relatable in this high-speed summer. 

It's the kind of music you'd love to see live at a festival or in a small venue. I have my two cents on that too. Another shoutout to La La Land, sorry not sorry.

mornings & podcasts

It's almost afternoon nap time. 

But for now this video breaks down my usual slow morning. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I LOVE slow mornings. In a very rushed world, I thrive off of the ability to live at my own pace, even if that means just taking five extra minutes to finish my mug of tea and aimlessly scroll on Instagram. Of course, post-grad life has made this a little bit easier for me too.

Aside from tea, morning playlists and comfy pajamas, my morning routine has come to include podcasts and sudoku. In this video, I give you some podcast recommendations like one of my personal favorites: Call Your Girlfriend.
