cancun photo editorial two
Leave me amongst the palms. Summer is so on my mind, even though it's all too early to break out the bikinis. Seriously, spring just sprung and I'm already daydreaming about days at the lake and finding tropical places to spend a week away. (Mallorca, anyone?) But, in all my thoughts I remembered that my trip to Cancun last summer was oh-so sweet. And that there's still details that somehow missed the blog scene — okay, I got distracted. I'm human, what can I say?
Before I took my hiatus from social media and spent my fall wandering in all the vibes and bright lights of fairs, life was pretty fine. A week of relaxing with the saturated pink flowers and endless resort life in Mexico can really feel surreal after a while, even though we always crave the escape.
What you could get out of this place that you wouldn't in the forts of Florida or the California coastline was an experience that felt just slightly exotic. Resorts don't necessarily surround you in a culture of a country, but the tequila was as fresh as the pineapple just the same. So, we knew the sunshine wasn't the only thing we'd take out of this trip.
If your wanderlust is finally seeing the other side of winter, then you've probably scoped out some spots that would be more than ideal. Once again, I'll highly recommend the Now Sapphire if you're looking to live an aesthetically pleasing lifestyle for a week. Picking up the perfect one-pieces and the like will be so essential though, too.
So, let's get down to the looks. I don't know who decided to bring back one-piece bathing suits, but I'm all about it. As this summer comes around the corner, it seems that the trend is here to stay. Thank goodness, because I didn't squeeze in nearly enough beach days last year and you'll want to get on board with this style as well.
I've always had a lot of luck with products from Aerie, especially when it comes to swimwear. But, I've also branched out to brands like LANA SWIMWEAR for some flirty and inspired sets. It really only makes sense to buy bathing suits together like this — of course, unless you're just looking for a black bikini top and the like. Otherwise, finding a fit that's a bit bold, whether it be with cutouts or straps that give you some interesting tan lines if you forget the sunscreen, is key.
All of the details for my bathing suits from this trip are linked below. They'll be making an appearance again this year for even more time in the sand, sun, and surf. Sunglasses? Check. This is the one season that getting shady is okay, too.
THE LOOK: Blush one-piece bathing suit (Aerie, $45); Rust strappy bikini top (Aerie, $25); Rust strappy bikini bottom (Aerie, $20); Palm tree bikini set (LANA SWIMWEAR, $); Anklet (Pura Vida Bracelets, $24); Grey bracelet with gold circle (Pura Vida Bracelets, $20); Sunglasses (H&M, $10)
